“N O W H E R E”
a new exhibit by Jennifer J. Lee
Jennifer J Lee is an artist based in Brooklyn working primarily in paint and drawing. She considers herself to be an observational internet painter, mining images from various websites, google image searches, books and other miscellaneous image sources. The pictures she uses to paint from are intuitively culled but loosely chosen for their strange connotations. Lee’s paintings and drawings endeavor to transform these images into something more corporeal. Calling attention to something that might be missed from an ordinariness of an image.
Opening: Friday, November 16th, 7-9pm
Closing: Saturday, January 12th, 7-9pm
Pressure Club worked with the artist to publish two hard ground etchings for this exhibition. Both works, “Computers: After Sandy Smith” and “Graveyard” are available for purchase in our shop.
Jennifer J Lee is a Brooklyn based artist from Pittsburgh, PA. She holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design 2010. She has studied at École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris France and has attended Skowegan School of painting and sculpture in the summer of 2009. Lee has exhibited at Sardine Gallery, Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery, Central Park Gallery (LA), Underdonk Gallery, Canada, and the Mattress Factory. Her other projects include Sister, a curatorial platform and guest editor at Black Cat journal.
